WHAT IS VIZMA?
VizMA, short for Visayan Music Awards, is an annual event to honor significant artists and important achievements in the industry. A songwriting competition aimed to promote the Visayan language and culture is a highlight of the awards ceremony.
The awards night aims to put the spotlight on the best of Visayan songs, songwriters, musicians, producers, and promoters of the Visayan music industry by recognizing these key players and their respective contributions.
The songwriting competition, aimed to promote Visayan language and culture, seeks to redefine and broaden the definition of Visayan music as we know it today. The annual campaign is a venue for lesser known songwriters to show the artistry and beauty of their craft by bringing their music to the Philippines and the rest of the world.
The People Behind VizMA
VizMA is endorsed by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas and organized by the Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 Foundation, Inc., the same organization that produced one of the biggest and grandest pageants in the country, Binibining Cebu. Through the years, Batch 85 has been promoting Cebuano beauty, talent, and culture. All of the proceeds from their events either go to charity and projects like medical missions, livelihood programs, schoolhouses, homes, the construction of Malasakit Centers, and relief operations for various calamity-stricken areas. In addition to Batch 85, a Board of Advisors composed of industry professionals from different regions will be present to make sure the rights of the artists are protected and the event and the songs are well promoted.
